Here we are with a new spy photo set that will come in 2019 BMW X5. This time the photos depict a more masculine version of the BMW SUV. From here, we can say that the vehicle in question might be an M variant of X5. Blue brake calipers and fat exhaust pipes only confirm our opinion. The latest report even shows that the X5 M50i model is being worked on so that it might just be what we see.
Like previous test donkeys, this one is also equipped with large camouflage. But, apart from this, we can say that BMW insists on passing one step in the X5 life cycle and jumps directly to the next generation of this vehicle. While the design will be a BMW that can be recognized by all means, the exterior body of the new X5 will be exactly like that. A new SUV under a more masculine body.
Using the CLAR platform will help the new X5 lose some of its weight. This will be achieved through the use of lightweight materials that will make 2019 BMW X5 lighter but bigger at the same time. Wheelbase will be longer, which will result in more space for passengers and their baggage.
As far as the performance version goes, the X5 M50i will not be at the top of the food chain, because the Munich-based company is planning the top M version. The latter is said to use the 4.4-liter V8 BMW biturbo unit which is capable of producing 600 horsepower. This variant may display the company Competition package which will further increase its heart rate under the hood.
The 2019 X5 regular version is expected to welcome the market in mid-2018, supported by diesel and gasoline engines. The M50i X5 must come hand in hand with the same standard version as the X3 comes along with its M40i variant. Also, the hybrid version is also in the mix while the stronger xDrive45e model will replace the current xDrive40e.
The new generation of BMW X5 is expected for some time now. The current gene in this vehicle has been around since 2013. The new spy photos of the BMW X5 2019 that will signal the next gene, have been spinning for almost two years. Together with the new X5, the German car maker developed the X7 SUV, which means the X5 will no longer be the main vehicle of the brand. But, despite this, he still has an important place in the ranks of BMW SUVs. The current version has nothing but success on the market, and the Munich-based company plans to stay that way with the new version.
The latest spy photo collection gives us the best look so far in the new X5 SUV. This was taken at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, which means that something new is happening with this car. What we have seen in the previous prototype is a big, big bumper, while things like the rocker panel are gone. Now, the BMW X5 2019 mules look almost ready for production. The only thing that looks broken is the rear lights on the back and the bottom of the bumper in front. Camouflage is still wrapped around the new X5, which means there is still work to be done.
Another thing we noticed in these photos is that there are two different models. At a glance at A-pillar, you can say that the blue prototype is probably the M or M Sports version. The black one is probably a more luxurious specimen. And, as you might be familiar with BMW, the general form remains the same. This was a surprise because BMW had not changed its design language in the past decade. The trademark kidney grille is now bigger and more upright, which is similar to what we have seen in the X7 concept.
There is no official word, just speculation, about what the X520 is hiding under the grid. What we are hoping for is a turbocharged six and eight cylinder engine. In addition, horsepower-pack 2.0 in-line four can be part of the line. On the conservative side of the fuel, you will most likely find a plug-in version. There is no news about the release date but follow the upcoming automatic exhibition season, and you will probably see the new BMW X5.
This will change even though for the upcoming 2019 the BMW X5 will have similarities with the current car. For starters, the new X5 will use a new platform, it will more than likely get a new set of machines and it will also be packaged a little differently. The end result must be smoother and better to drive an SUV that will continue to drive a sports car.
The biggest change to the BMW X5 2019 will be the platform that will be used. BMW is taking this step to streamline their production processes and offer a better car overall. The new CLAR, or Cluster Architecture, will use a large number of aluminum chassis with some magnesium and possibly carbon fiber as well. With that, the X5 must go down at least a few hundred pounds while being much more rigid. This will increase the NVH level and it must allow BMW to install a softer suspension system to make the car more comfortable without losing driving characteristics.
Unfortunately until now they have not released any information about it. From the spy shots seen some time ago, the new X5 seems pretty much the same size as before. However, while the wheel distance seems to be close enough, the track width seems to be larger in the new model. This might be done to free more space inside the cabin and give it a more embedded feel on the road.
The rear also looks much more sporty than before with a new rectangular exhaust, slimmer headlights and the possibility of a roof spoiler found throughout the range. The interior is currently the biggest unknown factor about this future model. Some suggest that it will get all new dashboards but this may not be true. Instead, BMW can switch to their other models like Series 5 or 7 to take design cues. Even if this will be the case, X5 will likely offer a minimalist design, great material, and high-level equipment.
Although official photos of the BMW X5 2019 are still hidden, recently a prototype was seen wearing light camouflage. It has a front end that is very similar to the Series 7 with large nostrils, rather slender lights and a bumper that is almost identical to a large sedan. From the profile it looks very similar to the current model but this is expected with BMW which usually prefers a more conservative design.
Engine & Specs
The car currently displays a variety of 4, 6 and 8 cylinder engines and this will not change for new models. However, it seems BMW can add at least two new versions to the car. There may be a smaller 2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine added to the mixture which can provide as much as 250 horsepower and more than 250 lb-ft of torque. Like basic diesel, this is also expected to come as standard with rear wheel drive. The new 3 liter turbocharged inline 6 engine might also be added to the range as an alternative lower than xDrive50i. Both of these new engines are likely to be the only gasoline engines available in some markets. Diesel engines 2 and 3 liters are likely to be carried largely unchanged. Gearbox is likely to be replaced by a revised automatic 8 ZF speed across the range.
Release Date & Price
It’s too early to talk about the price of the 2019 BMW X5. This car will arrive at the dealer by the end of 2018, so BMW is not near to determine the cost. Currently the rear-wheel-drive 2017 BMW X5 sDrive35i is priced at $ 56,500. Prices rose quickly with this model because all-wheel-drive asked for more than $ 2,300. Move to diesel, and you need to split up with $ 60,200, while hybrids are $ 63,000. If the powertrain of your choice is V8, it costs $ 73,000 for xDrive50i. The top-level version of M starts at almost $ 100,000.
